Promesa Church – Our Story

Promesa Church – Our Story

Promesa Church, formerly known as Ebenezer, has its roots in 1981 when it was founded by Pastor Pedro A. Vivaldi and his wife, Carmen Vivaldi. From its early days in “La Casita” (1981–1984), through “La Logia” (1984–1989) and “La Commerce” (1984–1989), the congregation has grown and been strengthened as a community of faith and service.

In 2008, after the retirement of Pastors Vivaldi, Pastor Peter Reyes was chosen to lead the congregation until 2022. That same year, in May 2022, the congregation elected Pastor Dwight Lee Miranda as its new pastor, who was officially installed in August. During his three years of leadership, Pastor Dwight faithfully served and guided our congregation. His obedience and heart for the nations continue to inspire us, and today he has begun a new season of his life fully dedicated to missions.

In March 2025, the congregation elected Pastor Ángel Maldonado as its new pastor. Along with his wife and family, he came with a heart willing to serve and build with love, commitment, and vision, marking the beginning of a new stage of growth and blessing for Promesa Church.

Today, Promesa Church stands firm in its mission to proclaim the gospel, build lives, and be a beacon of hope for the community, honoring its legacy while embracing the future with faith. Our vision is to live for God and develop faithful followers of Christ, and our mission is to be a church that worships God, lives out His divine purpose, and proclaims the Word of God with love, trusting that under the Lord’s guidance, we will continue to grow as a united spiritual family, passionate for Christ and committed to bringing the message of hope to our city, our nation, and to the ends of the earth.

Mission

At Promesa Church, we are committed to being a community that reflects Power, Presence, and Purpose in every aspect of ministry.

  • Power: We believe in the transformative power of the Holy Spirit, which enables us to live boldly, walk in spiritual authority, and impact lives through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • Presence: We cultivate an atmosphere where the presence of God is not only welcomed but prioritized. Worship, prayer, and communion are central practices through which we encounter God intimately.

  • Purpose: We are a church on mission—intentional about equipping believers to discover their God-given identity and calling, and sending them into the world as agents of reconciliation and hope.

Through these three pillars, Promesa Church exists to glorify God, build His Kingdom, and serve our community with compassion and truth.

Lead Pastors: Angel and Yashira Maldonado

Pastors Angel and Yashira Maldonado have been joyfully married since 2009 and are the proud parents of three beautiful children—Aaliyah, Aaron, and Adam. Originally from the Bronx, New York, their ministry journey has been marked by faith, obedience, and a deep love for people.

After years of serving in various ministry roles throughout New York City, they faithfully pastored El Mesías Church in downtown Manhattan, leading with passion and compassion in one of the busiest cities in the world. In 2019, they moved to New Windsor, New York, where they became part of the Fusion Church NY church plant, continuing to serve and build God’s kingdom.

In 2025, God led the Maldonados to Orlando, Florida, where they now serve as the Lead Pastors of Promesa Church. Their heart is to build a Christ-centered, Spirit-filled, multicultural church that reaches the lost, restores families, and equips believers to walk confidently in their God-given purpose.

Pastor Angel Maldonado has served in ministry for many years as a Bible Institute teacher, Youth Pastor, and Discipleship Pastor. He is known for his biblical depth, passionate preaching, and strong commitment to mentoring leaders and developing disciples who live out the gospel in everyday life.

Pastor Yashira Maldonado brings a strong background in leadership and education, having served as a Principal in both Highland Falls, New York, and Apopka, Florida. She has also worked as a systems coordinator within ministry settings, helping strengthen church organization and effectiveness. Her heart for excellence, compassion for families, and gift of administration beautifully complement the pastoral vision she shares with her husband.
